Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) externship is the major entry point for therapists learning this comprehensive series of training programs to gain a basic understanding of the EFT theory and clinical techniques of working with couples. EFT was developed by Sue Johnson and is being presented by the ICEEFT certified trainer Paul Guillory, PhD. Sue Johnson has published several outstanding books & training videos for learning the EFT model and three treatment modalities. Dr. Guillory is the author of the Trailblazing book "Emotionally Focused Therapy with African American Couples.”
The externship consists of lectures, interactive discussions, role plays, video demonstrations and a live consultation session. Dr. Guillory is internationally known for dynamically integrating cultural & multicultural clinical factors into the heart of EFT training. His passion is to center the struggles & suffering of all clients, as such diversity & inclusion are welcome. As part of this introductory training participants become familiar with EFCT’s understanding of couple distress, key stages and moves of the EFT Tango and core interventions techniques. Attending this externship is the first step to becoming certified in EFCT.
